OCHA offers its services free of charge. It does not operate as a real estate or rental agency. Columbia assumes no responsibility in connection with any rental agreement or services provided by our cooperating real estate/relocation agencies and recommends that all agreements between tenant and landlord be put in writing. Inclusion of any property or rental unit on this website, or any roommate posting, does not constitute, and shall not be construed or reported as (1) an endorsement or approval by Columbia or OCHA of any particular roommate, or of the landlord, its properties, or its business practices, or (2) a warranty or representation by Columbia or OCHA as to the quality, safety or other features of such property and/or its owners or management agent(s). Columbia and OCHA each expressly disclaim any and all responsibility for any problems that may arise with regard to such property, rental unit, or roommate posting or with regard to disputes between landlords and tenants, or between roommates, concerning such property or rental units. All prospective tenants are encouraged to exercise their own good judgment when evaluating a prospective rental unit, landlord or roommate.

With regard to the Housing Registry, neither OCHA nor Columbia screens either owners or tenants, nor do either screen roommates, and apartments are not inspected or "approved" by Columbia or the employees of OCHA. Listing of accommodations does not constitute recommendation of such roommates or facilities, nor is the accuracy of the description verified by OCHA or Columbia. OCHA reserves the right, but does not have the obligation, to remove or edit any listing or lister for any reason. Anyone who is authorized to do so may list available housing with OCHA. All listers must be aware that their listed apartments are offered in accordance with applicable University, city, state, and federal statutes and regulations governing equal opportunity and non-discriminatory access to housing. OCHA will not knowingly accept any listing which appears to violate these statutes and regulations. Any question regarding OCHA's policies should be directed to ocha@columbia.edu.
