This is a fully-furnished bedroom with private bath in a 2-bedroom, 1-1/2 bathroom apartment.

The spacious bedroom (11' x 14') is set up like a studio within the apartment,. It's furnished with a double bed, couch, desk, shelves, dresser, and bedside table.  The closet is approximately 6 feet wide.  There are several sets of linens for the bed including blankets and sheets.

The apartment has two bathrooms -- one has a shower/tub, the other does not.  Yours would be the half-bathroom and we share the shower/tub in the main bath. Both bathrooms have been renovated.  There are towels available for your use, if you wish.

The kitchen is full-size and fully-equipped with all the dishes you could ever need!  There is a dishwasher, and also a clothes washing machine and a dryer in the apartment.

The living room windows look out onto treetops and Morningside Park. 

The building is on the corner of West 118th Street and Morningside Avenue; getting to Columbia is a 5-10 minute walk across beautiful Morningside Park.  (The park is on a hill, so there is a staircase.)  The university provides Uber service for late-night trips home so you don't have to walk across the park. There is a grocery store, bank and Starbucks just two blocks away.  Lots of new restaurants have opened in the neighborhood recently.  It is a short walk to the A/B/C/D subway lines and there are various buses within a block or two.  The neighborhood is safe and quiet.

I am the owner of the apartment and you would be living with me.  Professionally, I am a quilt designer, author, teacher and pianist.  I work at home and also travel fairly often for work. When I'm home I sometimes play the piano; if it's at night I use a keyboard and headphones.

I like cooking, outdoor activities like skiing, kayaking, biking, hiking and golf; and exploring NYC. I've been told I make the world's best sourdough waffles, and I'm familiar with just about every chocolate shop in town.

The right person for this situation is one who is mature and responsible, clean and personable. I enjoy a few moments of conversation when we come home. Sharing a meal from time to time is nice. An occasional overnight guest is fine, but I do not want a significant other who is constantly at the apartment, nor do I want a parade of hookups coming in and out.

Absolutely NO smoking or drugs!

Please note: I have allergies to some perfumes.  An occasional light spritz as you are leaving for a special occasion is fine, but I cannot live with a constant heavy perfume scent in the house because it makes me ill.

Rental period:
Summer renters: You can rent the room for just the summer, it must be the full summer (June - August).
School year renters:  Minimum of a full school year (September to end of May). The room is not available for single semesters.

Electricity: Under normal circumstances, the electric bill averages about $100 per month without running an air conditioner, about $150 if you are running an air conditioner in the room,. I don't normally keep an air conditioner in the room because having it there forces you to keep the window shut, but I can install one if you wish. In truth, Since I am gone a lot; I pro-rate the electric bill between us based on how much we each are at home.

WiFI: Wireless Internet included.

TV: There is no cable TV but WiFi is fast enough for streaming online shows
